Master of Education Program in Teaching English

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

          Master of Education Program in Teaching English (M.Ed. Teaching English) degree is divided three programs-the first program receives the professional teacher certificate learning with 52 credits, the second program does not receive the professional teacher certificate learning with 42 credits and the third program learning by independent study is 42 credits. The program designed for those who seek a systematic education in teaching English for professional teacher.

          Students of the M.Ed. Teaching English program will acquire knowledge of teaching English, texts, and practices with a focus on teaching English approach and terminology, develop analytical thinking and research skills.

1.Build your Strong Theoretical Background in Teaching Methodology
Our program focuses on English Language Teaching, instruction, and curriculum, assessment, and evaluation, educational innovations, as well as linguistics and culture.  Students will acquire strong theoretical knowledge and up-to-date teaching methodology so that they can apply their knowledge and skills toward sustainable development and educational research in the field of teaching English as a foreign language.
2.Gain Practical Skills and Teaching Strategies for Teaching English
Students will learn the necessary skills of teaching English practitioners. They will learn how to develop academic educational concepts creatively; solve problems through appropriate processes; provide English instruction appropriately with multicultural awareness,  and use suitable information and communication technology in their research and English  teaching.
3.Learn in International Academic Environment
Students will learn in an international environment with our international student body and our international guest lecturers.
4.Flexible Class times
Our flexible class times are suitable for pre-service, in-service, and full-time working teachers/practitioners. Compulsory courses usually meet on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

ADMISSION

The program offers three plans of study to suit different backgrounds and needs of our students:

  • Plan 1 (Coursework and Thesis): Students are required to receive the professional teacher certificate learning with 52 credits.
  • Plan 2 (Coursework and Thesis): Students are not required to receive the professional teacher certificate learning with 42 credits.
  • Plan 3 (Coursework and Master Project):  Students are required to take 42 credits of courses learning by independent. Also, students in this plan must pass a comprehensive exam as a requirement for graduation. 

Students have up to two academic years from the date of entry into the program to complete all the requirements. For the thesis plan of study, students’ research proposals must be approved within the first two academic years after entering the program. QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS

1.Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts (B.A.) majoring in English;

2.GPA of no less than 2.50 or 2 year of teaching experience; and

 

APPLICATION

          In general, the application is open two rounds in a year. The first-semester admission starts from around June-September. The second-semester admission is in November – March.   1. Applicants are required to follow the admission procedures and mail in the completed application form and required documents to the Division of Teaching English Program, Faculty of Education, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University
  2. Eligible candidates will then be called for an interview. Names of the eligible candidates and interview schedules will be announced on our website.

          Master of Education Program in Teaching English (M.Ed. Teaching English) (English Program) aspirant specifies a program area in which classes and research work are to be done and in which she or he expects to become a scholar. This area of concentration consists of three plans.

Plan 2 (Coursework and Thesis): Students are not required to receive the professional teacher certificate learning with 42 credits.

           Master of Education Program in Teaching English (M.Ed. Teaching English) study aspirant, with the assistance of an advisor, constructs a M.Ed. Teaching English program plan of coursework and research opportunities.
